Greeting
Rev Scott: The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against such things. If we live by the Spirit, let us also be guided by the Spirit.
Call to Worship
(Psalm 145:8-9, 14-21 adapted)
One: The Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
All: The Lord is good to all, with compassion for all God’s creation.
One: The Lord upholds all who are falling and raises up all who are bowed down.
All: The eyes of all look to you, and you give them their food in due season.
One: You open your hand, satisfying the desire of every living thing.
All: The Lord is just in all ways and always kind.
One: The Lord is near to all who call on God, to all who call in truth.
All: The Lord fulfills the desire of all who are in fear and also hears their cry and saves them.
One: The Lord watches over all who love and make wickedness no more.
All: My mouth will speak with praise of the Lord, and all flesh will bless God’s holy name forever and ever.
Opening Hymn: “Holy, Holy, Holy” (The Hymnal #1)
Prayer of Invocation
One: As we gather in worship, let us take this moment to consider our needs for transformation and forgiveness. Dear God, the creator of all things based on love, you created us in your own image. There are times when we have fallen short of that love, not only to you but to each other and all of creation.
All: We ask for your forgiveness. We thank you for the comforting strength and compassion of the Holy Spirit to do better in bringing love, kindness, and grace to all we do. In Jesus’ name we pray. AMEN.
One: I invite you to quietly reflect on our need for grace
–Time of Silent Confession-
Assurance of Grace
One: Scripture tells us if we are “kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, God in Christ has forgiven us.” Rest assured, my friends, that through God’s grace our sins are forgiven. AMEN.
