Bible Fellowship – December 14, 2023

Good morning fellow soup makers,

We are now less than two weeks away from the coming of the Christ child. Hope everyone is enjoying the season and also giving yourself time to reflect on the season from a perspective of what it means to have Christ come into our lives.
Last week we made it through our discussion on the first week of Advent, the Sunday where we light the Hope candle. Instead of rushing through the weeks to get ahead of our worship on Sunday I feel like we would be better served by staying with a discussion on one week at a time which does put us behind worship. That might be a good thing in that everyone gets time to reflect and discuss the following week.
This week is peace. It is also the theme that was selected for the entire season – “Let There Be Peace on Earth.” Our basic Bible references will be:
  • Isaiah 40:1-11 (Beginning of God’s People Are Comforted)
  • Mark 1:1-8 (The Proclamation of John the Baptist)
Our Question of the Week is: “Do you see Jesus as the Prince of Peace? What does peace mean to you? Do you have peace in your life? Do you see it as a should? How or what would give you more peace?”
As we light the Advent candle of peace we will pray, “Gracious God, we light the second candle of Advent as we seek your peace. In a world filled with turmoil, may the light of this candle remind us of the peace that only you can bring. Help us to be instruments of peace in our homes, communities, and the world. Help us to have your peace within our hearts as we wait for the birth of Jesus, God With Us. Amen.”
As always – feel free to share music, poems, prayers, and whatever you have on your hearts and minds.
