Good morning fellow super soupers,
Many of us are not able to attend tonight. So I have decided to not have our study tonight. Please weigh in on your thoughts about next week. We could meet or we could wait until January and pick back up at Matthew 22. Also let me know if the term “super soupers” is too much.
I do suggest that reading the Bible references might very well be beneficial and make this coming weekend of lighting both the “love” and “Christ” candles even more meaningful. I suggest that you read the following to prepare for Sunday:
Luke 1:5-2:20 (The Birth of John the Baptist Foretold; The Birth of Jesus Foretold; Mary Visits Elizabeth; Mary’s Song of Praise; The Birth of John the Baptist; Zechariah’s Prophecy; The Birth of Jesus; and The Shepherds and the Angels).
We will be singing the nativity music this Sunday as we celebrate the birth of Christ with Lessons and Carols and our Candlelight Service which will feature Luke 2:1-20). But if you have a few minutes I do hope that you read the preceding chapter and reflect on the sacrifices of those who came before John and Jesus.
Here are three videos to listen to as we await.
The first one is Ave Maria by Molly B. who sang this at our Stiftungsfest worship service this summer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZDAncVIVVyQ
My Soul Magnifies the Lord by David Foley: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aO58XtrUFPU
For a modern take on Mary: Breath of Heaven by Amy Grant: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FWo3qlqyW1c
Please share your thoughts; other songs that move you that feature Mary; and anything else that you want to share.
Sending hope, peace, joy, and love your way. I hope to see you on Sunday (live or online).
Grace and peace to you and your families,
Pastor Scott
