Happy New Year!
I hope that everyone had a nice holiday season and was able to spend time with loved ones.
We are moving back to our study on Matthew this week. In our guide we are in Part 11, The Son of David and David’s Lord. Read the sections titled A Political Test, A Scriptural Test, The Greatest Commandment, and Son of David or David’s Lord. Our basic Bible reference for the week is:
Matthew 22:15-46 (The Question about Paying Taxes; The Question about Resurrection; The Greatest Commandment; and The Question about David’s Son.
Jesus says, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all of your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and first commandment. A second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the law and prophets.” Our question(s) of the week is: “How does the greatest commandment guide your faith? What does it mean to you? Who is your neighbor? Do you love yourself?”
I am really looking forward to getting our merry band back together and stirring the soup a little bit. You don’t have to wait if you want to start the conversation here.
Grace and peace,
Pastor Scott
