Bible Fellowship – February 29, 2024

Good morning soup chefs,

I am still working on a good salutation for our group. Suggestions are welcome. I have tried super soupers and now soup chefs. What do you think?
We pick up our study this Thursday at David and Cindy’s and on Zoom. We are moving on to Part 13, The Lifeblood of the Church. Read from the Summary through the Lord’s Supper (Pp 112-116).  Our Basic Bible References are:
  • Matthew 26:1-30 (The Plot to Kill Jesus; The Anointing at Bethany; Judas Agrees to Betray Jesus; The Passover with the Disciples; and The Institution of the Lord’s Supper).
  • John 11:1-12:12 (The Death of Lazarus; Jesus the Resurrection and the Life; Jesus Weeps; Jesus Raises Lazarus to Life; The Plot to Kill Jesus; Mary Anoints Jesus; The Plot to Kill Lazarus; and the beginning of Jesus’ Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem).
We should be right on schedule to work through the passion during the Lenten season and then have our Maundy Thursday service during Holy Week.
Jesus says during the first Lord’s Supper, “This is the blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.” Our Question of the Week is: “How important to your faith is the Lord’s Supper (eucharist, communion)? Why or why not? How important is your covenant (or testament in the KJV) with Christ? How does it inform your faith?”

These next few weeks are going to be heavy. But they are at the core of what our faith is based on. I think this could be a very meaningful part of our study. Read it anew.  As always, know that your comments and insights are welcomed here.
Grace and peace,
Pastor Scott
