Good afternoon chefs,
We will be meeting at David and Cindy’s and on Zoom on Thursday night.
Believe it or not, we may finish our reading of Matthew this week. Read Part 14, God With Us, in the guide (Pp 124-130). Our Basic Bible References this week are:
Matthew 28:1-20 (The Resurrection of Jesus; The Report of the Guard; and The Commissioning of the Disciples).
Mark 16:1 (beginning of the Resurrection of Jesus)
Luke 24:1 (beginning of The Resurrection of Jesus)
Galatians 3:28 (end of The Purpose of the Law)
The Book of Matthew ends with what many have called The Great Commission. “And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.'”
Our Question of the Week is: “Does the Great Commission instruct your faith life? Why, or why not? What does Jesus mean by ‘I am with you always?” When do you feel that Jesus is with you? Are there times when you feel separate from him? What can you do to help people feel like Jesus is with them?”
Our reading through Matthew has been a long and rewarding journey. I am looking forward to seeing where we go from here. Please come with recommendations on what you would like to study after this.
Grace and peace,
Pastor Scott
