Good morning Soup Chefs,
We will finish our study on Galatians on Thursday. And what a strong finish we should have. Our Basic Bible References for this week are:
Galatians 5:16-6:18 (The Works of the Flesh; The Fruit of the Spirit; Bear One Another’s Burdens; and Final Admonition and Benediction)
John 15:1-17 (Jesus the True Vine)
James 5:7-11 (Patience in Suffering)
One of the major themes of Galatians is Paul’s empasis on Living by the Spirit and the importance of walking in the Spirit and living a life characterized by the Fruit of the Spirit. He tells at 5:22-23, “By contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.” Our Question of the Week is: “Is there an attribute(s) of the Spirit that particularly resonates with your faith experience? How do the fruit of the Spirit contribute to building strong relationships within our community, and what practical steps can we take to cultivate these qualities in our lives?
We will be off until the week after Labor Day in September. Please continue to let me know what you would like to study on our return. Shirley mentioned the Gospel of John which might be a very good choice.
As always feel free to share your thoughts and insights. You are the ingredients that make this soup and what you add makes a difference.

I will end with how Paul ends his letter to the Galatians:
May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brothers and sisters. Amen.
