Good Afternoon all,
It looks like another beautiful day and more like fall for today anyway.
We are moving on to the beginning of Part 4, “A Man and a Woman”, in our guide. Read the Summary through Realized Eschatology (Pp 26-32). We are only reading the section on the Man (Nicodemus) this week. I have scanned and attached for those who do not have the guides. Our Basic Bible references for the week are:
John 3:1-36 (Nicodemus Visits Jesus; Jesus and John the Baptist; and The One Who Comes from Heaven).
Numbers 21:4-9 (part of The Bronze Serpent).
The Pharisee Nicodemus coming to Jesus at night leads to one of the most influential dialogues in the entire Bible. In John 3:16-17 Jesus says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone that believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. Indeed, God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world may be saved through him.”
Our Question(s) of the Week are: “Does receiving the gift of eternal life through Jesus influence your life? If so, how? How do you respond to God’s love personally? Do you feel a sense of responsibility, gratitude, or both?”
