Soup for the Soul – March 20, 2025

Good afternoon all,

Thank you for another great discussion last Thursday. It is always a balance between mission and the needs or our own. Both are necessary and important.

This week we continue on in Part 8, Lire and Death, in our guide. Please read from Palm Sunday through the end (Pp 72-75). Our Basic Bible Reference is:

John 12:12-12:50 (Jesus Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem; Some Greeks Wish to See Jesus; Jesus Speaks about His Death; The Unbelief of the People; and Summary of Jesus Teaching).

At verse 24 Jesus says, “Very truly, I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains a single grain; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.” Our Question(s) of the Week are: “In what ways have you seen spiritual growth come from seasons of struggle or loss in your own life? Are there areas in your life where God might be calling you to “die” to something in order to experience greater fruitfulness? How does this verse challenge the world’s view of success, self-preservation, and personal ambition.”

A reminder that we will have our Wednesday Night Lenten Service this week at First Congregational in Glencoe. Rev Penny will be the one who will give the message. I hope to see you there if you are able.
