Soup for the Soul – March 27, 2025

 

I hope everyone is as well as possible. We have had a good amount of concerning health issues this past week and please know that you are in our prayers. 

 

This week we move on to Part 9, Establishing the Church, in our guide. Please read the entire Part. (Pp 76-83). I will send a scanned copy of the chapter later today for those who may not have their own copies. Our Basic Bible References for the week are: 

 

John 13:1-38 (Jesus Washes the Disciples’ Feet; Jesus Foretells His Betrayal; The New Commandment; and Jesus Foretells Peter’s Denial)

 

John 21:20-24 (Jesus and the Beloved Disciple)

 

Our guide refers to 13:34-35 as the Foundation of the Church. Jesus tells the disciples, “I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” Our Question(s) of the Week are: Have you ever experienced Christ-like love from another? Have you ever felt like you were able to give Christ-like love to another? If love is the defining characteristic of being Christian, how do you think the world perceives the church today? How can we reflect Christ’s love to each other and the wider community?
