Soup for the Soul – October 9, 2025

Good morning all,

Hope everyone is well and we continue to pray that the harvest is going well and that everyone stays safe. Attached are some of the potential questions of the week and the closing prayer for this evening. I am going in early today and am hopeful that I can work on the echo that was a problem for our Zoom attendees last week.

We are going to review the scripture that many call “The Gospel in a Nutshell” tonight.

In John 3:16-17 Jesus says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone that believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. Indeed, God did not send the Son into the world  to condemn the world, but in order that the world may be saved through him.”

Our Question(s) of the Week are:  “If God’s love includes the whole world, what does that mean for how we treat others — especially those who differ from us? How might our church reflect this kind of inclusive, saving love in our community? What would it look like for us to live as people who truly believe that God’s love is for everyone?”

Bonus Questions of the Week which comes from the first time we read this scripture: “Does receiving the gift of eternal life through Jesus influence your life? If so, how? How do you respond to God’s love personally? Do you feel a sense of responsibility, gratitude, or both?”

I look forward to our conversation on this important scripture. I know that, for now, we may be more scattered than gathered but I encourage everyone to share thoughts on this thread now and anytime.
