Crews are ready to shift traffic onto the new eastbound lanes from just west of Highway 51 (near the solar farm) to the east end of the project area in Cologne. They will make the switch by early evening, Wednesday, Oct. 22. Here’s what you can expect:
- You’ll move between the existing travel lanes and the newly paved eastbound lanes in three separate locations near Highway 51. This is necessary to route traffic around an active construction site east of the new Highway 212/51 interchange.
- The advised speed limit through this area is 45 mph. Please slow down and drive attentively.
- You’ll need to use the new bridge to cross Highway 212 at Highway 51.
- Eastbound and westbound Highway 212 traffic will go south then over the bridge to continue north on Highway 51.
- Southbound Highway 51 traffic will also use the new bridge to loop back to Highway 212.
- Highway 212 will stay in these conditions from just west of Highway 51 to the east end of the project area until the middle of next year while crews construct the new westbound lanes.
