With the forecasted Winter Storm Warning, Sunday worship service has been cancelled.
Dear members and friends of St. John’s United Church of Christ,
Because of the forecast calling for a significant snowstorm in our area, we have made the decision to cancel tomorrow’s worship service. While we always look forward to gathering together in worship, the safety of everyone in our congregation and community comes first. We want to be sure no one feels they need to travel in difficult or potentially dangerous conditions.
It is disappointing not to gather, especially during this season of Lent when we are walking together through some of the most meaningful stories of our faith. Tomorrow’s service was centered on John 9, the story of Jesus healing the man born blind. In that story, Jesus reminds us that God’s work often becomes visible in surprising places and unexpected moments. Even when circumstances seem uncertain or inconvenient, God’s light is still present and still at work.
So even though we cannot gather in the sanctuary this week, I invite you to take a few moments at home for reflection and prayer. You might read John 9:1–12 and consider how Christ continues to open our eyes today, helping us see God’s grace in the ordinary moments of life and in the care we show to one another.
Moments like this can also be an opportunity to look out for one another. If you are able, check in on a neighbor, make a phone call to someone who might appreciate a friendly voice, or simply take time to rest and watch the beauty of the snowfall. Even in the middle of a winter storm, God’s light continues to shine.
Please stay safe, stay warm, and know that you are in my prayers. I look forward to seeing everyone again next Sunday as we continue our Lenten journey together.
Grace and peace,
Pastor Scott
