Soup for the Soul – October 29, 2026

This week we are jumping back to the beginning of the Sermon on the Mount in the lectionary and the Beatitudes, Matthew 5:1-12. Our other reading will be 1 John 3:1-3. It has become our tradition to celebrate All Saints Day on the last Sunday of October.

However, this Sunday is the day for many churches to celebrate All Saints and this week’s reading of Matthew is designed to match up which at first blush may seem like an odd pairing. I have attached a short presentation on the Beatitudes and why it is selected to be read on All Saints.

In keeping with that theme. Our Question of the Week is: “When you think about the saints, or those who influenced you in a positive way, which of the Beatitudes best describes something they taught you by the way they lived?”
