How It Works
Shoe Away Hunger is a community outreach program of Good In the Hood. Sale proceeds from donated footwear go directly to support their food programs, providing essential groceries and feeding over 2,800 people each month.
Clean Out Your Closet For A Cause
It’s easy. Simply bring your new or like new footwear including sneakers, sports shoes, sandals, casual shoes, boots, flip flops, ice skates, etc. and drop them off at St. John’s UCC.
Encourage your friends, relatives and neighbors to do the same. Tie or band them together or place them in a plastic bag to keep them paired. It keep shoes, that still have some wear life, out of landfills and supports hunger relief efforts.
Our annual shoe drive runs yearly, from May 1st until the day of the shoe bus sale on July 16th. Shoes can be dropped off at:
St. John’s UCC – 12984 Co Rd 51 – NYA on Sundays between 9am and 1030am
NOTE: We do NOT have an outdoor drop spot. Please do not leave shoes outside on other days of the week.
You can also drop off shoes on the day of the sale at the market, or at any Schuler Shoe Store location. If you are planning to drop off more than 50 pair of shoes or footwear items, please donate them directly at the Shoe Away Hunger warehouse at 15400 28th Ave N., Minneapolis, MN 55447 or to arrange a pick up: 612-440-7463 (SHOE).
